We're back

October 3, 2009

Greetings sweet Albinis!

We are back, after a summer break and reproductive pursuits.  Our next gig is on 16 October at 8pm at The Red Room, Oxendon Street (by Piccadilly Circus).  Please come if you can.

Although our splendid EP “One More Drink” didn’t quite make it to the top of the charts, we did receive quite a lot of positive feedback – and the title track was played regularly on community FM across the land, from Essex to Burnley.  Our reviews included:

“A bit of good fun here from a fine bunch of friends, is accompanied by an entertaining video;  think The Divine Comedy writing songs to play down at the local boozer. Light hearted drinking song stuff with humour.” (theelectriccircus.net)

“roustabouting around the saloon bar like The Quireboys on hot milk n whiskey” (Unpeeled.net)

“like a cross between the Smiths and the Wurzels” (dieshellsuit.co.uk)

“One More Drink is a collection of beautifully dour indie pop gems, it’s as if Stephen Merritt swapped place with Stephen Patrick Morrissey and got the respect he really does deserve.” (bearded.net)

“this is perfect daydream music. Slow and melodic with ever such a slight country influence.” (thebeatsurrender.co.uk)

Hello everybody

April 2, 2009

Our new EP, One More Drink, is nearly ready.

Please visit the following link: Albino – One More Drink
to see the splendid video, made by Counter Reset.

We are celebrating the launch of the EP with three gigs next month.

First, on 13 April, we are playing at Blang! at 12 Bar on Denmark Street. What better way to complete your Easter rites than by joining us?

Second, on 18 April, we are holding our launch party at the Stage Door, Webber Street, SE1. The evening starts at 8pm and there’ll be some other bands as well.

Third, on 25 April we are playing at the Tom Waits tribute evening at the Cross Kings (near Kings Cross). He isn’t dead yet, but we’ll be performing the songs as if he were.

All the best
Tucker

Some news from Albino:

November 13, 2008

Hello everybody

First, we are celebrating the advent of the virgin-born on Saturday, December 6 at The Stage Door (on Webber Street, nearest tube Waterloo).  Performing with us that night will be an exquisite salad of acts including:
Planetzim - http://www.myspace.com/planetzim; the Tom Waits of the ukelele;

The Other Dances - http://www.myspace.com/theotherdances; Ben Anstis’ marvellous band; watch out for the amazing little electric guitarist, Uni Spica;

Mucky Little Pawprints - http://www.myspace.com/muckylittlepawprints; energetic, danceable antifolk, with a slightly sea-shanty quality.

Second, we were played on Sunday night by Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6, thanks very much to a recommendation from the amazing Sergeant Buzfuz.  You can hear it at:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/6musicintroducing;

Two exciting pieces of news from Albinoville

May 10, 2008

This time they’re playing one of the tracks from Resurrection Bodies – likely to be ‘Always on the Wrong Side’. Don’t worry if you don’t live in an area where you can pick the station up, you can always listen online if you feel so inclined. Do tune in if you can and vote for us – you can signal support by texting or emailing south.live@bbc.co.uk during the course of the show.

To listen in please go to South:Live , 7-9pm Sunday evenings

The other news is that we are playing at 9pm this coming Tuesday evening, at The Good Ship on Kilburn High Road. It’s about five mins walk down the hill from Kilburn Jubilee tube and the evening is hosted by the great Paul Hawkins, who will be joining us for a duet. Do come if you can.

Don’t forget you can buy the new CD, Resurrection Bodies, from Amazon. Shortly to be available on iTunes also.

Goodbye for now my dears
